This page is dedicated to any questions you may have on our services here and how purchasing JDM cars or parts through us works. I want to buy a car! What now?

You can message me on Instagram (@illegaltenderco) or email me (illegaltenderco@gmail.com) so that we can discuss what it is you are looking for. If it is in our inventory you can check out on our site, or if you are looking for something specific we can keep our eyes peeled for you. Once we find the car, depending on where it is (private sale, a shop, or online auction) we will contact you to move forward.

Once the car is paid for, we will hold onto it for you and complete everything that needs to be done in order to export it (scheduling appointments for shipping, all export paperwork, etc.) to which it will then leave the country. We will contact you and give you copies of all the paperwork you need once it leaves the port.

What happens when the car gets to the port?

Can you inspect a vehicle for me?

Of course! We can take a look at any vehicle for you, and photograph anything you would like to see. We will look for obvious signs of issues (frame rails, etc) but since we are not experts on every chassis we would want for you to point out specific things that you would want checked. (For example, if a certain chassis is prone to rust on the rear windshield corner, we would like to know so we can check for you.)

Which forms of payment are accepted?

We accept credit and debit cards for any items right here on our website, alternatively we accept bank transfers or Zelle as well as all big money transferring apps and websites like PayPal, Venmo, and CashApp. You can email us at our email above and we can take it from there with any vehicle that you would want to purchase.

Which currencies do you accept?

Our website can handle various currencies and we are able to ship internationally, however all prices on our website and communications are explicitly in United States Dollars (USD). If you are international, when you check out on or view our website the currency should automatically exchange to the appropriate amount converted into your local currency for items but for articles and message communication all prices will be discussed in USD (or Japanese Yen if explicitly stated.)

How much will it cost to ship _____?

There are so many factors that go into pricing shipping for various items or vehicles, so its very hard to give out a firm price. Our items in our inventory that are listed on our website will include shipping automatically at checkout.

I want a car for circuit driving in Japan! Can you store it for me?

Of course! We have outdoor storage in Kanagawa prefecture (next to Tokyo) and can organize transportation for you if you would like to use it anywhere. Storage costs are $100 USD per month and we can accommodate for transportation to circuits.
